Fed up of being constantly told about the perks of minimalism? Me too. I like stuff, I like living in a home that looks lived in so I am DOWN for this trend. It started gaining popularity at the end of last year as an antidote to Marie Kondo’s ‘less is more’ ethos and is based on the idea of creating your own unique space by injecting your personality and interests into a room.
Now, maximalism doesn’t have to mean cluttered – you will need something to tie all these objects together either using colour, patterns or fabrics but apart from that you can really just let your imagination go wild!
Don’t you love that not only can you immediately get a sense of who lives in these rooms but they are also so much more inviting than stark white walls, sharp corners and bare surfaces. If this trend is teaching us anything it’s that you shouldn’t be afraid to add a little colour and set your trinkets free.
Will you be trying out this trend? Let me know!
Until next time..
